Adelaide Building trip

During our Mid-semester break in sept, a few HFH members participated in our very first inter-state build trip to Adelaide. It was a 7 days trip. 13 of us signed up for the trip to help the less fortunate Australians in adelaide built their own home. Every single one of us had a tiring yet fulfilling trip! During the trip, we explored Adelaide city, visited their very famous beach (the Glenelg beach), we learnt how to use power tools like a Saw, Screwguns and hammer to put up walls and have them painted.

On the 25th sept night, the 13 of us met at the budget terminal to catch our flight to adelaide.
We arrived in Adelaide at about 9pm, and reached our motel at around 11pm in our charted mini-bus.

the motor inn that we stayed in for our entire trip.

The next day our free n easy day where most of us explored Adelaide city together. We explored their shopping district- the rundle street and their sunday market. after that, we took a tram to their famous beach- the Glenelg beach.

On monday, the day after we combed the city, is the day where we started our work. we met up outside our rooms at 8am, and took a 20mins walk to the site. we were introduced to Gary, who is in-charged of the project. we were introduced to the 3 houses that we were supposed to be working on with them. after that, we were split up into 2 groups to work on different sites. some of us were sent to another site to finish up painting and paving of the pavements, while the remaining people were told to stayed behind to put up walls for one of the house. we were taught how to put up plaster walls using glue, screwguns and a pen knife. everyone of us was enjoying the experience since it was our first time handling all these power tools in our life.
after a long day of work, we were treated to a nice welcome bbq by HFH.

For the subsequent 4 days, we managed to finish putting up walls for 1 house and painted the other 2 hses.

our last lunch of the trip- we were given a certificate and a hammer as a token of appreciation
our group photo taken outside the house we painted.

all in all, it was a fruitful and enjoyable trip.
Thank you people for making the trip a memorable one.
